Should you put caps on fence posts?

For rounding, cut several lines from the metal edge to the beginning of the post and bend down. It’s harder with round fence posts. It’s harder with round fence posts. For rectangular ones, you can cut a line from the edge of the metal to the top edge at each corner and bend it down.

Allow the glue to dry and then nail the modified cap to the top of the post. You can either wrap the sides or just use it to cover the top. Shape the edges with a cutter or smooth them with sandpaper, center the smaller square on the original cap and glue them together with waterproof polyurethane glue.
